Mt Grey

9 August 2016

We had a great turn out for this day trip, 14 trampers. Leaving Christchurch and arriving at the Mt Grey car park it was decided that we would all tramp up the Maukatere zig zag track to the trig on the top of Mt Grey.

Morning tea was shared with an abundance of wasps and bees at the lookout, so caution was paramount so no one was left with a souvenir of our day out. With all different levels of fitness, some arrived sooner than others, but once regrouped, we enjoyed the best lunch stop ever on Mt Grey, no wind and warm sunshine. You couldn’t help but spend extra time just taking in the views and enjoying the company of these around us. We agreed to split the group for the return journey, some going back the same way whilst others enjoyed a more direct route back to the car park, via the Red Beech track. A great day out, with excellent company.

Thank you all joining me.
