Mole Tops

Grade:  Moderate

Camping at the old hut site at the bushline on Friday night. Saturday explore tops and choose the camping site around the Northen tarns below Mole Tops. Sunday out by either Mole track or Jameson ridge.

Leave Christchurch early and drive towards Murchison. At far end of Murchison turn right onto Mangles Valley Rd toward Tutaki and turn right towards Tutaki Lodge +2km south to the start of Watson creek track. 

Friday,15th Nov- Day one (camping at the old hut site on the bushline) approx 1250m alt.4h 30min walking from the car park.

Sat, 16th Nov Day 2 camping on tops approx 400m climb, 2h 30min to Southern Tarns on true right of Watson creek. Unmarked. Tussock. Explore tops and choose the camping site around the Northen tarns below Mole Tops.

Sunday, the 17th Nov out either via the Mole Tops hut and Mole track ( the river bed walk) or Jameson ridge approx 4h 30min each back to the road + 2km back to the car.
